Little Bean is without doubt a Barbie fan and if I’m totally honest, so am I!! I used to play with Barbie (and Sindy) when I was a child so it brings back happy childhood memories to see my daughter playing with her dolls as I did. The only difference is that Little Bean also has the opportunity to watch Barbie on DVD too which gives her role play a different context as she can draw from what she sees in the movies as well as from her own imagination.
To date Little Bean and I have enjoyed some lovely ‘girlie days’ out thanks to the release of Barbie films at the cinema, days out which Little Bean holds fond memories of too. The next Barbie film is due for DVD release tomorrow; Barbie Rock ‘n’ Royals is an upbeat musical with Barbie starring as Princess Courtney.
Get ready to rock! In this upbeat musical, Barbie stars as Princess Courtney, a modern princess whose world is turned upside down when she switches places with Erika, a famous rockstar. Two very different worlds collide when a mix-up sends Princess Courtney to Camp Pop and Erika, to Camp Royalty. While the leaders of the rival camps try to correct the mix-up, both Courtney and Erika learn to adjust to the different worlds and have fun while making new, unexpected friends. When the girls learn both camps are at risk of shutting down, they must embrace their differences, find their true voices, and come together for an epic sing-off that shows anything is possible when you dare to dream big!
Little Bean is very excited about this new release, particularly as she loves the musical aspect of the films. With her blonde hair, I sometimes think she believes she really IS Barbie. Little Bean is growing up very fast so I like that she enjoys films such as Barbie which always have a good moral to their tale which isn’t lost on her.
